Unlock powerful new mapping capabilities and more in the latest UKHab & BNG Platform release – all designed to save you time and enhance survey efficiency.
Custom Map Layers
Create and upload your own map layers, directly from the UKHab & BNG Platform
Whilst you’ve been able to add reference map layers such as Shapefiles and GeoTIFFs to your UKHab projects via the Coreo Admin Area, you can now do this directly in the UKHab & BNG Platform. This means you don’t need to leave the Platform at all during the setup process. We’ve also simplified the process of adding these map layers.
This feature is perfect for importing high resolution base mapping from drones, or reference map data we don’t already provide, like Local Wildlife Site boundaries.
New Reference Layers Added
A host of new areas to check your sites against
When you’re doing your background checks on new development sites you want to check proximity to protected sites in the vicinity. We’ve expanded the range of sites that you can review by adding Special Areas of Conservation, Special Protection Areas and Biosphere reserves for England, Scotland and Wales.
As with previous data layers these can be viewed using the layer switcher and will even be available in your map prints if you want them.
Project Sharing
Securely share your projects with stakeholders
You can now provide a read-only copy of your project for stakeholders to interact with. This shared copy is password protected, cannot be edited and cannot be exported from. Allowing you to provide an easy way for third parties to look through your collected data, safe in the knowledge that your records can’t be tampered with or lost.
Improved Map Export
A new look for your maps!
The map export has several more options and a new look. The legend is now separate from the map and includes more detail such as the UKHab symbology alongside primary habitat codes. It can also be exported as a separate image alongside your map. We’ve also added the ability for you to upload your company logo.
Additional Improvements
We’ve made several other improvements to the Platform ranging from small fixes to reworking the design of certain elements for a cleaner and more intuitive experience.
Some highlights include:
- A new full page Project Settings page, including tabs for working with red line boundaries, managing your team and the new custom layers feature.
- Postcode search is now available across all maps, including the red line boundary map and in fullscreen mode.
- Image URLs are now included in the export of species feature notes.
- We’ve optimised the layout of the platform on smaller screen sizes.
