2025 has been a year of significant momentum for Coreo. Our community of users has more than doubled in the last 12 months – a milestone that we view as a shared success.
This growth means we are able to invest even more into evolving the platform, ensuring that Coreo remains the most user-friendly, reliable and efficient way to collect and work with field survey data.
Here are some of the highlights from 2025:
Platform Power: Enabling Smarter Surveying

Central to our ethos is a commitment to continuous improvement. Not just to Coreo’s capabilities, but to our service as a whole. Here are a few of the key updates that took place in 2025:
- UKHab/BNG Integration: The once separate UKHab & BNG Platform is now seamlessly integrated into the Coreo Admin Area and includes the ability to add and edit records. Priority habitats have been added to data layers in the app and the map production tool has been revamped to provide superior quality report-ready exports at the click of a button.
- Next-Level Design: The Form Builder has been both redesigned and rebuilt to make building surveys more intuitive and faster. Data Driven Styling now enables you to visualise field results the way you need them (including the ability to view the UKHab symbology in the Coreo app).
- Making it easier to work with others: Our new Collaborator feature allows you to work seamlessly with Coreo users from other organisations. From working with sub-contractors to partners, Coreo makes working with other Coreo teams simple and at no additional cost.
- Launch of the Coreo Helpdesk: Since launching the Coreo helpdesk earlier this year we’ve been able to help with hundreds of questions (often about the metric!) and have received many great suggestions on future features. Feedback on the support provided has been overwhelmingly positive and it’s been a great way for us to engage more with you on how you want to use the platform.
A Few Coreo Stats from 2025…
- Total records submitted using Coreo: 3,726,312
- Total UKHab projects created: 6,805
- Total UKHab records submitted: 202,351
- Total area of UKHab baseline records collected: >1 million hectares
Projects & Impact: Scaling Nature Restoration

Coreo is the backbone for major ecological and conservation initiatives, showcasing its versatility for both professional and volunteer-led surveying. A few of our 2025 projects include:
- Large-Scale Landscape Recovery: Coreo streamlined surveying for a range of Landscape Recovery Projects in 2025 including the North Norfolk project, enabling the efficient baselining of more than 3,000 hectares.
- Powering Nature Restoration Projects: After transforming Nattergal’s UKHab & BNG workflows, Coreo is now used for all their site baseline and monitoring programmes including birds, butterflies, reptiles and earthworm counts. Coreo is also used by Knepp, Wendling Beck and Restore, among other organisations leading the way with nature restoration.
- Empowering Volunteer Networks: Coreo simplifies and speeds up data collection and is user-friendly for both professionals and volunteers. This was key for organisations like the Species Recovery Trust who rely on volunteers across the country to gather reliable data without extensive training.
- The Big Blue Bag Project and Polar Collective: The Coreo app is empowering citizen scientists of all ages and experience levels to protect their marine environment in the Big Blue Bag project, led by TV presenter and marine biologist Monty Halls. The Polar Collective uses Coreo to gather research data during their expeditions in the Antarctic.
- Soil Acoustics Meter (SAM): We developed a dedicated Data Portal for Soil Acoustics’ new Soil Acoustics Meter, which employs bioacoustics to monitor soil health.
- Curlew Conservation: Coreo is working with a range of curlew monitoring projects throughout the UK, helping groups to record the data they need to protect these birds. Projects have described Coreo as “paradigm shift” and “total game changer” by helping them to foster unprecedented engagement from volunteers and land owners, and providing them the ability to collect high quality and standardised data without the need for any double handling.
Looking Ahead

2026 will be another big year for advances in Coreo. Here are some of the areas we already have lined up:
- Our post-intervention workflow is now in beta testing and we are aiming to release in early spring.
- We are currently building the all new, bespoke UKHab & BNG app. Based on 3 years’ experience of working with clients from across the board on BNG projects, this version aims to supercharge your surveys.
- Monitoring for BNG projects.
- Printable maps, customisable exports and PDF exports for all Coreo projects – ready to drop into your reports.
Look out for more news early next year including upcoming partnerships designed to add value and expand Coreo’s capability further in the conservation and environmental technology sectors.
