The Professional UKHab & BNG Survey App for Ecologists
Designed by ecologists, for ecologists, the official UKHab Survey App supports you in professional habitat surveying and biodiversity net gain (BNG) assessments and calculations.
Streamline your habitat surveys and BNG assessments
In the field
Record new habitat features directly in the field or import them as a Shapefile.
Snap polygons to existing boundaries to make sure there are no gaps or overlaps.
Easily add UKHab primary habitat features and secondary codes.
Habitat codes, names and definitions are built into the app – meaning you can leave the UKHab reference guide at home!
Based on top-level choices, the app presents only relevant sub-options, meaning surveys are intuitive, quick to complete and results are always logical.
Condition Assessment questions are presented as part of each relevant survey. Again, these are dependent on the exact UKHab habitat feature you are surveying, streamlining the whole process.
Coreo calculates habitat feature areas and linear feature lengths for you, ready for use in the Metric 3.1 Calculator Tool.
The app automatically calculates Habitat Condition Scores using revised 3.1 rules.
Upload records immediately to the cloud or save for later.
Add photos and text notes to your records.
Back in the office
Manage your team.
Get ready for field surveys by easily importing any existing geometries from your GIS.
Edit, explore and QA submitted records.
Coreo automatically converts submitted UKHab Surveys into two ready-to-use formats:
the standard UKHab data model format, for use in reports and mapping software such as ArcGIS and QGIS.
the Condition Assessment format, which is ready to be input into the Biodiversity Metric Calculation Tool.
The UKHab Survey App is trusted by ecologists
“The UKHab Survey App is an easy-to-use, intuitive tool for habitat surveying. The flexibility of the drawing options is key to being able to record accurate data in the field. Assignment of habitat categories follows a logical flow of decision screens with the UKHab hierarchy fully embedded. We see a multitude of applications for the app in terms of Environment Act 2021 duties, planning, through Biodiversity Net Gain and habitat condition monitoring.”
Sam Neal, Norfolk Biodiversity Information Service Norfolk County Council
“This will be an absolute game-changer for ecological field surveyors and is likely to become the industry standard for UKHab data collection.”
Emily Drinkwater, Associate Ecologist at a major UK multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy
“Coreo simplifies the process of mapping habitats. Having aerial imagery, GPS and all the relevant information relating to UKHab definitions and classifications within Coreo makes habitat surveying a simple process. Using the app helps ensure that resulting maps are consistent and accurate, and, therefore, the final BNG reports are accurate.”
